DECEMBER 16. 1960 Stefan iak Leaves For U.S. Tour Dr. Ludwik Stefaniak, pro fessor of biblical archaeology at the University of Krakow, Poland, who has been a guest on campus for several days left the University Tuesday to continue his tour of the United States. Stefaniak was invited to the United States by the University's Department of Religious Studies and the Department of Archae ology and will continue as their guest for his entire stay in the United States. Stefaniak said •that he is on a "holiday from Krakow to do re search. He left Poland in Sep tember to excavate both in the Near and Middle East. In October Stefaniak and his excavating company discovered sik Bar-Cochba letters. Bar-Coch ba was the leader of the second Jewish revolt between 132 and 135 A.D. One of these letters is of specific importance because it is written by Bar-Cochba and contains his signature in Greek. Only 15 of these letters have been unearthed, Stefaniak said. On Monday night, speaking on the letters for the first time, he said "the letters have helped us to 'clarify the origin of Chris tianity." Auto Crash Injures Woman Seriously A woman was seriously in jured yesterday • morning when two cars collided at,the intersec tion of University Dr. and Curtin Rd. State Police at Rockview said Mrs. Irvin Rihel of Lemont was hospitalized with a possible con cussion and a possible cracked right hip when a car driven by Mrs. Helen Homan of Boalsburg collided with a truck driven by George Warner of Bellefonte RD 3. The accident occurred when the auto driven by Mrs. Homan which was traveling west on Cur tin Rd., slid past a stop sign and was struck broadside by Warner's truck which was going south on University Dr., police said. Damage to the Homan car to taled $7OO and damage to the Warner truck was set at $4OO. Mrs. BishelS condition was listed as satisfactory by the Centre Country Hospital.
