WEDNESDAY. DECEMBER 14. 1960 Road-Weary Cagers Take Short Break Penn State's road-weary bask etball te a m will get a six-day rest before traveling to Syracuse Tuesday to face the Orangemen In the Onandega War Memorial. The Lions, 2-3 after their first five games, had a Tough weekend in Charlotte, N.C.,. losing to Duke 69-46 and Wake Forest 64-71. Lion coach John Egli plans to spend his time this week looking for some added bench strength. Egli used only six men in Fri day's loss to Duke, and Saturday against Wake Forest he used only five. The veteran coach is expecting help from a pair of Coothati play ers Bill Saul and Dave Robin son right after the Liberty Bowl game Saturday. Saul broke into the starting lineup on occasion last year and is a strong boardman. He aver aged six points a game. Robinson impressed as a scorer and rebounder for the freshmen a year ago. Egli probably won't have Saul and Robinson for the Evansville Tournament at Evansville, Dec: 27-28 but they should be ready for the Colgate game at Rec Hall, Jan. 5. In the first round at Evansville. the Lions will face the Purple DR: vAgoD iNe Early Rembrandt: That Rembrandt was born a genius is conclusively proven by this little-known masterpiece. This, his first known painting, astounded critics and made the name Billy Rembrandt fa mous throughout Europe. Believe it or not, Rembrandt created this master• piece when he was two years old! The Thinker: What is The Thinker think ing? This has been as baffling to scholars as the riddle of the sphinx and "Who's on first?" But now it can be revealed that this statue is actually a Roman warrior who had been asked, "Remem ber how great cigarettes used to taste?" When he failed to answer. "Luckies still do," he was turned to stone. CHANGE TO LUCKIES and get some taste for a change! _ Product troduxo-ereray- - crttro is our m i ddle um; •t. r. ci.. Ohio State drew 35 of the 36 first place ballots in the season's first poll. The other first went to Detroit, No, 3, which was knocked out of the ranks of the unbeaten Monday night by Purdue 83-64. "Here, in my : opinion," says Or. Frood, "is the greatest work of 'art. Note the bold, clean strokes in. LUCKY STRIKE, conveying the wisdom and pride of the manufacturer. Note the perfect circle, representing, of 'course, the perfect product inside. And in the product itself we find a truly mag nificent expression of quality, good taste, pleasure and contentment. Surely, there is no work of art that, over the years, has brought more aesthetic joy not only to all of us in the art world, but to millions of people in all walks of life." depicts the housemother of a college sorority patiently waiting for a dance to break up in the next room. Note how the artist has captured the anguish and devotion of this lonely woman as she frets over her young charges (who were nicknamed "The Whistlers" because of the way in which they obtained dates). Today it is used primarily as a vivid warning to small children who bite their fingernails. Woman in Water: Here is the original of a great "lost" , masterpiece which I was able to acquire for the ridicu• lously low price of $8,500. I mention this only to show what great bargains you can find in art if you know your subject. I determined the authenticity of this priceless original by proving that the small stain, upper left, was made by Renoir's favorite coffee.
