needed because the Lion second
ary of Howie Deardorff, Ernie
Noil and Dennie Johnson failed
to come through.
Deardorff, seized with a cramp
at the start of the race, was never
contention and he finished
17th.
Johnson and Noll also were
big disappointments. Noll had
to settle for ninth place behind
the Jaspers* John Corry and
John Geraghty, while the best
Johnson could do was 12th be
hind Manhattan's Ed Kennedy
and Joe Dreiss.
Manhattan’s Dick Brimley cap
tured 13th in 28:26 with State’s
Dave LaHoff only a step behind
taking 14th.
Fred Larson and Walt Miller
also placed for the Lions, Larson
taking 16th and Miller 20th.
