Communities
Main Centers
Communities and areas—
these two terms are rapidly
becoming everyday jargon
here at the University. But
exactly in . what capacity does
each serve?
OM'

A "community" is the product
of a newly initiated system of
grouping residence halls together
for social, recreational, cultural
and governmental purposes. There
are seven communities on cam
pus, five housing and/or provid
ing meals for both men and wom
en students, one housing only
women and one housing only men.
Community "A," including the
West Halls, houses 350 women and
1200 men; Community "B," includ
ing the North Halls, houses 1144
men; Community "C" is composed
of Atherton Hall, housing 500
women, and about 200 active
members of Town Independent
