of Powers' 10-year sentence for
espionage, plans to head home
today by way of Paris,
Happy about the prison cell

freely. We were entirely alone for
over an hour."
It was the first time they had
been alone together since they
parted in Adana, Turkey, about
four months ago.
Powers did. not describe the
kind of work he will be doing,
but has asked for heavy clothing
and apparently expects outdoor
duty.

dwellers need something.
We hear rumors that Graduate
Hall is to be converted into of
fices. Pity! It's the only building
on campus that has for its resi
dents a feeling of warmth. Homey
if you will. Homey with the
creaky stairs, porch, the . asthma

ited by the process of time.
Hope this is just a rumor.

Review-
(Continued from page one)
Bishop's dramatic ability is seen
as never before this season.
From his beginning as a per
son completely lost to his emer
gence as a man with an inde
pendent will, Bishop is excel
lent. His range of emotion—
from the comedy he does so
well to the most dramatic his
trionics—are always right and
convincing.
While working out his own
problem, Jerry manages to solve
some of Gittel's. Only this saves
Bishop from being despised by
the audience.
The pace of the evening is gen
erally good and the play moves
along: Only occasionally does it
slow down, but this is only tem
porary,
The set, by Ann Keely, adds
character and warmth to the pro
duction and the direction, by Max
Fischer, is good. However, it is
Gison's excellent play and Miss
Barton's and Bishop's perform
ances that make this the finest
evening of theatre this summer.

Do you agree with Lincoln
about government
competing with its citizens ?
Nearly a hundred years ago, Abraham Lincoln
said, "In all that the people can individually do for
themselves, government ought not to interfere."
That's an even more important issue tpday,
when the U. S. government runs about 19,000
businesses. The electric light and power businesh
is one example, where government has spent well
over $5,000,000,000 of taxpayers' money to com
pete with its own people.
$10,000,000,000 more has been proposed for
this purpose. That would be unnecessary spend
ing—because the hundreds of independent elec
tric light and power companies like yours aro
able and ready to supply all the low-price electric
ity people will need . . . and without depending
on taxpayer& money.
