Lead in IM

IM track reached the mid
way point last night with the
completion of the field events.
Phi Gamma Delta and Omega
Psi Phi established themselves
as the teams to beat in the
finals tonight at 6:30 on Bea
ver Field.
Phi Gam and O.P.P lead the
fraternity race with 14 points.
Right behind with 10 points
apiece are Beta Theta Phi, Delta
Sigma Phi and Alpha Phi Alpha.
Off the qualifying time in the
sprints, Omega Psi Phi will be
the favorite. In the 440 yard dash
and the 880 relay O.P.P. recorded
the best times in the qualifying
heats and they had the third best
time in the 100-yard dash.

The peanut-sized second base
man of the Chicago White Sox
played in his 700th straight game
against the Baltimore Orioles.
Long gone is the record by a
second baseman of 477 games, set
by the White Sox' Eddie Collins
in 1914-1917.
The all-time record for any
player is 2,130 games by Lou
Gehrig, Stan Musial holds the
National League mark of 895.

Track Carnival
Omega Psi Phi scored 10 points
in the broad jump when Sam
Clayton soared to a first place
with a jump of 19-7 1 / 2 . On an
earlier jump Clayton reached
better than 20 feet but he fouled
on the jump.
Jerome Scott of Phi Gamma
Delta took second when he jump
ed 19 feet, and not far behind
him was Charles Whiteman of
Tau Phi Delta with 18-91:z.
Nixon Stuart copped the inde
pendent broad jump title with a
leap of 18-11 and Dick Westrick
was second with a jump of 18-2 1 / 2
Don Paxton of Beta Theta Pi ,
and Jim Barton took top honors
in the high jump. Paxton and
Barton, an independent, cleared
5-9. Both attempted to clear 5-10
after the meet was over but,
neither could do it.
Mark Greenwald of Phi Sig
ma Delta took second place with
a jump of 5-8. There was a six
way tie for third place at 5.5
between Charlie Janerette (Al
pha Phi Alpha), Clayton (OPP),
Duane Ream (Delta Upsilon),
Bill Booker (OPP), Scott (Phi
Gamma Delta) and Tom Allan
(Phi Delta Theta).

ma Phi nosed out Janerette for the
