Annuity Plan
Offered To
Personnel
An annuity plan designed to
provide supplementary re
tirement payments was of
fered to all full-time Univer
sity personnel yesterday.
The employee accepting the
plan contracts directty with the
insurance company for this an
nuity, while the University makes
the authorized salary deduction
each month.
According to McKay Donkin,
vice piesident for finance, the
University does not contribute to
the plan. However, he explained,
annuity payments are tax-de
ferred under the Fedeial Techni
cal Amendments Act of 1958.
In determining the maximum
deduction according to a formula,
an employee drawing an annual
salary of $6OOO could set aside up
to $lOOO a year. However, the for
mula determined amount cou'
not exceed 20 per cent of the ew
ployee's total salary for that yea]
Donkin said that the plan
now in effect at 26 colleges al
univeisitie , „ including the Un
versa.) , of Pennsylvania.
The purchase of additional pr
tection under this plan will n
affect the benefits currently a
ming to employees through ot,
er pogroms,
