The Committee on Inter-
Religious Affairs will bring
Henry F. Foster and State
senator Jo Hayes to campus
on May 17, "Student's Civil
Rights Day."
The program, planned to honor
the sixth_ anniversary of the Su
preme Court ruling against seg
regated schools, will be held at
815 pm. at the Wesley Founda
tion,
Foster is professor of consti
tutional law at the University of
Pittsburgh. His speech will cover
'The Constitution and Segrega
tion: How law has responded to
social conditions"
A member of the Bar of the
Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.
Foster has taught law at the Uni
versities of Oklahoma and Neb- 1
raska. Ile has argued two briefs
on segregated schools, and was al
fellow in constitutional law and
ti
behavioral science at the Univer-1
sity of Chicago last year.
Hayes' part in the program has
not yet been announced by the
Inter-Religious Affairs Commit
tee.
On May 17, 1954, the United
States Supreme Court ruled that'
separate but equal schools were ,
unconstitutional, thus forcing
previously segregated Southern
schools to intergrate their class

being recognized with similar
