By AMY ROSENTHAL
The Town Independent
Men's Council will continue
its action to lift the town

be suitable for parking and not
interfere with cleaning or snow

that town independent men be
is,ued stickers so that police

a LECTURE by
Miss Vera Denty
on
"FREE WILL
and MODERN MAN"
7 P.M. HUB Assembly Room
Everyone Welcome
By BARB YUNK
at Ohio State University, said,,
"Experience is as important toy
education as learning. It cannot'
he dismissed as beneath the in-I
structor's attention."
,Oberteuffer spoke last night on:
"A Biological Basis for Responslj i
Wily in Education" in a lecture„'
co-sponsoi ed by the Graduate'
School Series and the College of
Physical Education and Athletics,
An educator, Oberteuffer
said. must understand the qual
ity of the tissue that he expects
to accept the learning. Studies '
of genetics, psychology and bi
ology have proven that a stu
dent's ability to learn is based
on his physiological and psy
chological makeup, he said.
Those who deny that the
,school's concern is with the in
tellect alone are reverting to 18th
(century ideas, he said. "You can't
educate a mind alone: the mind
idoesn't exist alone."
We must pattern education in
terms of man's capacity to take
it," Oberteuffer said. "You can't
expect performance from a ma
chine that isn't built in to it,"
We're doing fine with the sci
lence of things, he said, now we
;have to apply what we know to
human problems. We have to pro
vide activities, concern and in-
Istruction that will give the stu
dent his best chance to react to
I the best kind of education.

THE DAILY COLLEGIAN STATE COLLEGE PENNSYLVANIA
Carson Ruled
Not Eligible
For SGA Seat
Freshman Class President
Robert Carson has been de
clared scholastically ineligible
to sit on SGA Assembly.
A second semester freshman,
Carson is affiliated with Univer
sity party. An alternate from this
party will be appointed by As
sembly chairman Larry Byers, to
fill the vacancy.
A 2.4 All-University average is
required to keep an Assembly
seat.
However, Carson will remain in
the capacity of class president and
advisor to the Freshman Class
Advisory Board since the 2.4 re
quirement does not apply to the
position of class officer itself.
The Advisory Board has decid
ed that an executive council mem
ber shall be required to have a
2.2 scholastic average instead of
a 2.4 as was required in the past
The Board also declared that
the SGA bylaw stating that if an
officer becomes scholastically in-,
eligible, the order of succession,
shall be from chairman to secre
tary-treasurer does not apply to:
the board.
The date for the freshman class
dance has been set for April 22.,
Entertainment, refreshments and
decoration committees wer e l
formed. Hershel Richman was ap
pointed chairman of the entertaire
ment commitee.
