LA Council
Chat With
The home of Henry Albinski, instructor of political
science, will be the scene of a fireside chat next Tuesday
evening, sponsored by the Liberal Arts Student Council.
Plans for this chat and for others in the future were
discussed last night at the regular council meeting.
These gatherings will give
members of the council an op
portunity to meet with several
professors in the College of the
Liberal Arts in an informal at
mosphere. The professors repre
sent the various departments
within the college.
On March 22 a fireside chat
will be held at the home of Kelly
Yeaton, associate professor of
theatre arts.
In other business the coun
cil discussed the absentee vot
ing legislation. Late in 1959 a
State law was passed which al
lows voters who are away from
their homes at the time of elec
tions to vote by an absentee bal
lot. This legislation, however,
does not apply to students and
since then many complaints
have been heard from Univer
sity students.
At the council meeting, Presi
dent David Epstein said that
sometime in the near future SGA
will initiate a petition which may
be signed by students over 21
years of age.
This letter will be given to Pres-

said that Walker hopes to win
the support of other colleges and
universities in contesting the law.
Compulsory ROTC was also dis
cussed. Epstein said that "al
though the storm has died down
here, it is still raging on other
campuses." He also said that in
quiries are being made into the
situation at other universities
and that the one significant
change in the ROTC program here
has been the substitution of aca
