PAGE EIGHT Changes in ROTC Set for Next Fall Two changes in course requirements for senior Air Force ROTC cadets will become effective next fall, according to Col. Orin H. Rigley, Jr., professor of air science. Seniors will be required to take political geography 460 for one semester and political science 14 or international understanding 300 for the other. The Air Force will give up three of its four hours a week of instruc tion to allow its cadets to take these academic courses. In the remaining hour, navi gation and weather will be taught. These courses are given to enable the cadet to pass the written test for his pilot's li cense. "We have two reasons for mak ing these changes," Col. Rigley said. "We feel that University professors are more competent to teach these academic subjects "Secondly," he said, "over 40 per cent of our cadets are in thel 'Department of Engineering, which is now trying to fit more human- i ities courses into its students' schedules. "In order to reduce the over load we have made these three courses acceptable for ROTC credit too. The Department of Engineering will also accept these as electives in addition to the six ROTC credits. "We are also studying our pro gram to see what other University subject matter may he substitut ed, especially for the junior ad vanced ROTC cadets," Col.
