Phi Kappa Sigma and Tau Kappa Epsilon last year’s;
champ and runnerup respectively opened their drives toward;
the “59” title in last evening’s IM football action. Both teams
lcgistered wins, Phi Kappa Sigma defeating Delta Chi, 46-7,
and TKE downing Lambda Chi Alpha, 20-7.

this time for 25 yards, Tau Phi
Delta never threatened as the

In independent play, Erie and
Watts I checked in with their sec
ond straight victories. Ex-basket
baller Bob Edwards’ Erie team
scored early as Jim Conners hit
George Ehnnger for 30 yards and
the only score of the game. Con
nors was the hero on defense
also. He intercepted a last ditch
Blair pass on his 5-yard-line to
protect the 6-0 victory.
Bruce Campbell booled a 45-
yard field goal with 1 second
remaining lo play lo enable
Delaware lo whip Lehigh 3-0.
Prior lo Campbell's kick, Le
high had dominated the play,
leading on first downs 8-1. It
was Delaware's first victory
and Lehigh's second straight
loss.
In the night’s final game, Lin
den shut out Cedar, 16-0. The
passing, running, and kicking of
Mike Pennington led the Linden
Hall men in their win. Penning
ton ran 35 yards for one score
and passed 20 yards for the other.
To make his night perfect, the
“triple threat” kicked a 30-yard
field goal. Linden’s eight inter
ceptions thwarted the Cedars.

Jack Urban, who started in Caye’s
place last week has an injured
knee and may not be able to go
at full speed today. Sam Sobczak
is the fullback.
Army's probable starting line
up has Carpenter and Don Usry
at ends, Mike Jezoir and Al
Vanderbush at guards, and Bill
Yost and Bob McCarthy at
tackles.
Centering for Caldwell will be
big Bob Oswandel. Army coach
Dale Hall has nominated Roger
Zaliskas to take over Anderson’s
left halfback spot. Steve Waldrop
is the right half. Don Bonko or
John Eielson will be the fullback.
Today’s game will be tenth in
a series which dates back to 1899
when the Lions beat Army, 6-0.
The Lions haven’t won since
then but hopes are high for a win
today.
“In my three years on the var
sity, I’ve never seen team spirit
as high as it has been during the
past week.” said Botula, the Lion
captain. “The players are really
keyed un to fever pitch.
"Each player on this squad is
determined to be twice as good
as they've been in the games
• to date."
The Lions will be looking for
their fourth straight win today.
The weather will be sunny
and cool for this afternoon's
game at West Point. Winds will
be rather gusty from a westerly
direction with velocities run
ning about 15 miles an hour.
Temperatures should be in the
upper 50's at game time.
They’ve beaten Missouri, 19-8;
21-0; and Colgate, 58-20.
Armv is after its second vic
tory. The. Cadets walloped Bos
ton College. 44-8, in their opener,
but lost to Illinois last week, 20-
14.
Tire Lions’ next game is the
homecoming affair with Boston
University at Field next
Saturday. Following that, they
will travel to Cleveland to take
on Illinois.
