The University's Mateer Playhouse will be one of the
first theaters in the country to begin the nation-wide com
memoration of Anton Chekhov's 100th birthday with its
production of "The Cherry Orchard" which begins Monday
at Standing Stone.
Leading members of the cast ,

Richard Mason, set designer for
the playhouse, will have ample,
opportunity to practice his skill,
in this production. The play calls,
for three changes of sets, the first
time this has been attempted at
Mateer this season.
According to Mason, there will
be two indoor scenes and an out
door scene. An interesting feature
of the set will be a real log cabin
constructed fro mtimber cut near
the playhouse.
