Gambles to Claim
12th Degree Friday
The Gamble's evidently gamble away their education for
a University degree is fast becoming a "must" for the Gamble
family.
Mr. and Mrs. Franklin 0. Gamble, of RD 1, McDonald,
will attend commencement exercises tomorrow night to see
their son, Clyne, claim his third
degree—a doetoi ate in education

Glenn's wife Is the former
Nancy L. Saylor, of Hagers
town, Md. She qualified for her
bachelor of science degree in
1952 and her master of educa- '
tion degree in 1955, both in
home economics.
Harvey, oldest of the three .
brothers and now a crops field,
man with the Eastern Stateci
Farmers' Exchange at Elderton,l
carved his bachelor at science, de-i
gree. in 1939. His wife, the former;
Mary Tilbroolt, of Irwin, is a 1938;
graduate in home economics. )

Health. Bethesda, Md., qualifiedi
for his bachelor of science dc-i
gree in agiicultual and biologi-i
cal chemistry in 1942, added
master of science degree in 1951,1

gree in 1953
His wife, the former Mary L.
Wolff, of Alexandria, gained
her bachelor of arts degree
from Pennsylvania College for
Women but came to the Uni
versity in 1943 to obtain her
master of science degree in ag
ricultural and biological chem
istry.
Each of the thiee boys has
three children and this could
mean nine more bachelor's de
gt cue:, not to mention wives' de
grees and advanced degrees.

Patrol Changes
Auto Forms
The campus patrol has revised
the form used for registration of
motor vehicles on campus.
The new form will facilitate
the filing of registrations in the
office It consists of one original
and four carbons which must he
filled out by the applicant. Two
conies go to the traffic violations
office, two are kept by the patrol
and one copy is given to the ap
plicant.
The new forms are also adapted
so that filing can be done both
numei wally and alphabetically.
Information requested includes
the car license, name of state,
name of car and semester The
applicant is also asked if he is
physically handicapped, is a com
muter or lives in residence halls.

Leaves of absence for two pro
fessors who are members of Gov.
David L. Lawrence's cabinet
have been extended an additional

They are Maurice K. Goddard,
professor of forestry, now serving
as Secretary of Forests and Wat
ers, and Dr. William L. Henning,
Secretary of Agriculture.

Conference
Will Open
About 250 members of the
Pennsylvania Waterworks Op
erators Association will meet
on campus Monday through
Wednesday for their 33rd an
nual conference.
The conference is one of the'
oldest to be held on campus.
Lectures and problem solving,
sessions will be held in the '
Min
eral Science Auditorium. Discus-1
mons will concein labor relations,'
filtering, chlorination and other',
problem, in the field.
Special lecturers will be Dr.,
Eugene Myers, associate profes-'
sor of economics, who will dis
cuss labor-management relations,
and Dr. James Gemmell, profes
sor of education, who will speak
i on his trip to Russia.
Ten of the operators them
selves will give formal lectures
at the sessions.
Waterworks operators operate
and maintain electrical and me
chanical equipment such as
pumps, settling tanks and chlori
nators and perform chemical and
bacteriological tests on water to
insure its potability.
Prof's Painting Exhibited
In Maine Art Festival
George Pappas.. assistant pro
fessor of act and act education,
is exhibiting an oil painting,
"Coast with Rocks" in the Port
land Summer Art Festival, Port
land Museum of Art, Portland,
Maine.
His painting was selected by
jury action out of more than 300
entries. A total of 59 paintings
was selected along with nine
pieces of sculpture.
