Nome Annual Conference The conference on Community Development at Home and Abroad sponsored jointly by the Pennsylvania Federation of Womens' Clubs and the University opened Tuesday with over 100 registrants. The purpose of the conference is to help clubwomen uniTiL,rstand their role in world affairs, to promote world under standing through projects and to present ways of developing local discussion groups for adults. The conference opened with a dinner Tuesday evening for the planning committee and discussion leaders. The morning session will begin at 9 a.m. today in the Mineral Science auditorium with Dr. Ri chard Poston, director, Depart ment of Community Develop ment, Southern Illinois Univer sity, speaking on community de velopment at home. At 10:45 a.m., work groups will begin on programs for commun ity development. At the afternoon session be ginning at 2:30 p.m. in the Het zel Union Building Assembly Room. Dr. Ralph Condee, pro fessor of English literature, will speak on adult education. Friday's session will focus on community projects abroad. Pro jects in Mexico and - the Philip pines will be discussed. At this session, Mrs. Earle A. Brown, president of the Pennsyl vania Federation of Women's Clubs, will be guest speaker. University Wins Top The annual report of the Uni versity, titled, "A Report to the People of the Commonwealth," won first place honors in the pub lications competition of the Amer ican College Public Relations .Association. The award was among those announced at the annual meet ings of the Association in French Lick, Ind., by Dr. Dwayne Orton, editor of Think, and educational consultant to the IBM Corpora tion, who served as chairman of the judges for the exhibit.
