Choir Starts
3rd Tour
Of Europe
The Chapel Choir of the
University, composed of 67
students and recent graduates,
today 'iegan in Oxford, Eng
land, a six-week tour of Eu
rope.
It is the third such tour for
the Chou, which is directed by
Willa C Taylor, professor of mu
sic. Similar tours were completed
In 1955 and 1957.
Tice trip this year will take the
choir members to England, Ger
many, Poland, Denmark, Not way,
Sweden. and Scotland. They will
return to New Yolk, N.Y., on
Aug 27 from Edinburgh.
Ai in past veins, each member
of the choir on the tour will pay
own expenses The Choir will
present a number of concerts,
usually in chuiche, throughout
the count' le, visited.

fessoi of archaeology, and his
wife, Dr. Margaret B. Matson, as
sistant professor of sociology, are
accompanying the group and con
ducting the educational phases of
the pi ogram. They are responsi
bli- for orientation and also ar
range for meetings of the group
with leaders. in education, gov
ernment, art, and music in the
countries visited.
Mrs. Taylor is assisted by
James W. Beach, instructor in
music and assistant choir director.
Quartet Will Present
Lecture-Recital Friday
The Claremont Quartet will
present its second in a series of
lectuie-recitals at 11:30 p.m. to
n-I°ll°w in the Hetzel Union
Building' Assembly Room.
The string quartet is in resi
dence during the Mid-Session.
In addition to lecture-recitals,
they will present concerts and
help with classroom instn i ction
and hold open rehearsals.

Public Lecture
Dr. Leonard S. Kenworthy,
professor of education, Brooklyn
College, will speak on "Meeting
the Leaders of New Nations" at
8 pm. today in 121 Sparks.
Kenworthy's speech is spon
sored by the International Under
standing Workshop. He is a for
mer director of the workshop.
His lecture is open to the pub
lic, but tickets, which may be
picked up prior to the lecture at
the Hetzel Union Building main
desk, are required.
Kenworthy is professor of edu
cation at Brooklyn College and
specializes in social studies me
thods, curriculum in elementary
and secondary schools, and inter
national education.
One of his primary interests is
education for international un
der,tanding. Kenworthy has trav
eled or lived in 22 countries and
in 1954 traveled around the
world. In 1957-58, he visited new
nations of Africa, the Middle
East and Asia

Benson Receives Grant
For Lipid Biochemistry
The National Science Founda
tion has awarded Dr. Andrew A.
Benson, associate professor of
agricultural and biological chem
istry, a $53,000 grant for a three
year period. The grant will sup
port his basic research project,
entitled "Radiochemical Studies
in Lipid Biochemistry."
