Piercy Awarded Prizes Along with the other gifts and trophies, Miss Piercy was presented a four-year full tuition gubernatorial scholarship by Mrs. David L. Lawrence, wife of Gov. Lawrence. Miss Piercy will also receive a scholarship from the Pepsi-Cola Bottlers of Pennsylvania, a wardrobe for her Atlantic City trip, and stipends from each personal appear ance she makes during the coming year, amounting to over $20,000. Each of the finalists also will receive scholarships. Miss Piercy graduated from the University in June after completing her studies in three, rather than four years. She has been hired by the Lower Merion School System as a teacher in the system's elementary school. She lives in Springfield with her parents, where her father is an insurance agent. The new Miss Perrnsylvania will probably take a leave of absence for the coming year from her teaching duties. Also on hand to congratulate the new queen was Dr. Walter H. Walters, head of the department of theatre arts at the University. He was one of the seven judges at the pageant.
