Beaver Ave., and then go to an area park for a picnic and discussion of the book, "Handbook of Christian Theol ogy." Hacker Named ,Visiting Prof ,In History Dr, Louis M. Hacker, professor of economic history at Columbia University, has been named a visiting professor of history, ef fective Sept. 1. Hacker will serve for a semes-' ter and is the third visiting pro— fessor of history at the Univer sity. Other guest professors have been Herbert Heatdn, University of Minnesota, and! Thomas D. Clark, University of Kentucky. He received his bachelor and masters degree from Columbia University and was also granted a master of arts 'degree Oxford University in 1948 and a honor ary doctor of laws degree by the University of Hawaii in 1953. Since 1935 Hacker has been a member of the economics depart ment at Columbia and has been a full professor since 1948. He , was director and dean of the School of General Studies at Columbia between 1949 and 1958 Ridenour Will Retire As Professor Emeritus Chauncey 0. Ridenour, who has served on the faculty at the University for 39 years, will re tire July 1 as professor emeritus of English literature. Ridenour began his college' teaching career as an instructor in English at the University in 1920. In 1925 he was made as 'Eistant professor of-English liter ature, in 1933 an associate pro fessor, and in 1943 professor of, English literature. the smart took is Iwo-tone! Hagen to Retire July 4 ,After 28 Years' Service Dr. Beatrice L. Hagen, a mem ber of the faculty for 28 years will retire July 4 as professor emerita of mathematics. Dr. Hagen taught at schools in the middle-west before com ing to the University in 1931.
