For Math-Sci
Remains Same
The faculty of the College of
the Liberal Arts yesterday wrap
ped up a year of debate on pro
posed changes for the mathe
matics-science requirements by
voting to retain the present pro
gram with the addition of astr3n
omy to the group of physical sci
ences.
The motion, which had been
tabled at last month's meeting,
was passed with no additional dis
cussion.
Until now astronomy 90, a non
mathematical presentation of the
principles of astronomy, has not
been acceptable toward fulfill
ment of the laboratory science re
quirement.
Action to revise- the program
began last May when the faculty
defeated a committee recommen
dation to raise the credits required
from 12 to 15, and approved a mo
tion that Mathematics 2, 6 and 14
would no longer be acceptable
toward fulfillment of the college
requirements.
A subsequent plan to require
at least six credits in either phys
ics or chemistry and three credits
in the biological sciences was de
feated.
Pappas to Exhibit Work
in Boston Art Gallery
George Pappas, - assistant pro
fessor of art and art education,
will show 10 paintings and eight
drawings at the Kenegis Gallery,
Boston, Mass.
The exhibition, which will last
from tomorrow to June 11, will be
his first solo showing. It will in
clude paintings and drawings done
along the Eastern seacoast as well
as those done in the State Col
