The University and St. Fran
cis College of Loretto last week
announced the establishment of a
cooperative program in engineer
ing.
St. Francis becomes the sev
enth Pennsylvania liberal arts
college to engage in such a pro
gram with the University. Under
the agreement the University will
accept those students with junior
standing who wish to enter speci
fied curricula in the College of
Engineering and Architecture at
the completion of the three-year
pre-engineering program at St.
Francis.
The program will enable young
men to obtain a general education
in a liberal arts institution as
well as a technological education
in a school of engineering
through five years of study in
stead of six or more when both
degrees are obtained separately.
Similar programs are now in
effect between the University
an d Albright, Elizabethtown,
Gettysburg, Lycoming, Westmin
ister and St. Vincent's Colleges.
