Education Seminar Maik Van Doren, author and professor of Engnsh at Columbia University, will speak in a 3-part "Seminar on Excellence of Teach ing in a Large University," at 8 p m. Thursday in 10 Sparks. Van Doren's lecture will be the ( l ist of the senis sponsored by the Office of the Vice Presi dent for Academic Affairs. A graduate of the University of lltmoic, Van Doren received his inaOcr of arts and doctor of phil osophy degrees from Columbia University, In his 39-year teaching ca reer he has taught many under graduates who have gone on to literary fame, such as Jac ques Barzun, author and dean of Columbia's graduate facul ties: and Clifton Fadiman. As an author, he has produced more than 50 hooks including I,erse, fiction, critical works and an autobiography. Ile was award ed the 1940 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry for his "Collected Poems."
