The missile is 43 feet long and about five feet thick. It has a nu clear warhead. rDescribed bv the manufacturer as a “superelusive miniature supersonic airplane,” it has a stubby wing and rudder. It has a range reportedly of more than 500 miles. It is guided by a self-contained inertial guid ance system. The missiles are hung beneath the jet bomber. 3 Specialists WASHINGTON UP) Secretary of State John Foster Dulles’ doc tors called in three more special ists yesterday in the hope of de fining and containing his abdom inal cancer. From the White House came in direct word that Dulles will con tinue as secretary of state at least for several weeks. The decision apparently was left up to Dulles. President Eisenhower was de scribed by Rep, Charles A. Hal leek (R-Ind) as feeling that as long as .Dulles is able and wants to carry on, the President will avail himself of his services. Two of .the three specialists called in are surgeons who at tended Eisenhower when he was 'operated on for ileitis in 1956 — Dr. I. S. Ravdin, professor of sur gery at the University of Penn sylvania Medical School, and Dr. Brian Blades, professor of sur gery at George Washington Medi cal School. The third is Dr. Ralph Phillips of Memorial Hospital in New York City. Maj. Gen. Leonard D. Heaton, commandant of Walter Reed Ar my Medical Center, said they will help outline the future course. Heaton, who discovered the re currence' of Dulles’ 1956 abdom inal cancer when he operated on him for hernia last Friday, re peated what he said Saturday— that.no further surgery is con templated. gooopooooooooooooooooooo | the Charter Oak Inn g S New SYLVAN ROOM g g Located between Maieer § o Playhouse & C.E. The satellite, Vanguard 11, may whirl through space for years or even centuries. But the bat teries for its weather eyes—a pair of photoelectric cells—can operate continuously for only two weeks. And at first it may take two weeks to process the informa tion relayed back to earth bound scientists by the 20-inch, 21 Vi pound globe. Dr. Richard Porter, head of the U.S. satellite panel for the Inter national Geophysical Year, said the launching is “the beginning of a new era in weather research.” President Eisenhower congratu lated “all who participated in the successful launching.” Out in the reaches of space, the new satellite is streaking along with Russia’s huge Sputnik 111 and three American satellites. Its two electronic eyes peer out 6f its shiny shell. Other delicate in struments are packed inside the sphere. A remodeled version of the Vanguard rocket, which was a 100-million-dollor fizzle in six of seven, earlier tries shot the satellite info orbif. Cape Cana veral, Fla., was the launching spot.
