Lions Clobber Terps
For Fourth Victory
If there were any disappointed wrestling fans among the
5500 that witnessed Penn State’s surprisingly easy 23-10 win
over Maryland Saturday night at Rec Hall, they must have
been rooting for the Terrapins.
For the Lion matmen, in winning their fourth meet of
the year, did just about every
thing the fans had wanted to see.
'Die Nittany backers wanted an
impressive victory—and they got
it. They wanted to see a couple of
Penn State pins—and they got
that, too

(his 25th in 28 years of coaching)
but it was a perfect birthday gift
for the wily gent, who was cele
brating his 60th birthday that
night.
There were only two losers for
the Lions—and both were via
falls. Gordie Danks was flattened
by Dick VanAuken at 130 pounds
and Joe Haines was decked by
unbeaten Dick Dean at 177.
The Lions also recorded two
