Bell died of a heart attack last
October while in New York on

He had served the University for
24 years, originally as a teacher
and for 15 years as director of the
Department of Public Information
and University editor.

award will be administered by an
advisory committee which will
seek the help of eminent scholars
outside the University in de
termining each year’s winner.
