In his last two seasons, he had to take a back seat to Joe Gratto, a two-time Eastern 137-pound tilhst and one time 137-pound national kingpin. But with Gratto graduated, Santoro zooms to the forefront. The ex-serviceman has won 39 matches, lost two and tied two over his three-year span in dual and tournament competition. He *won the EIWA 147-pound title last year after placing sec ond behind Penn Stale’s Dave Adams in 1957, However, Santoro dropped down to 137-pounds for the NCAA tournament and wound-up third, losing to the eventual champ, Paul Aubrey of Oklahoma, in the semi-finals, 5-3.
