PAGE TEN 4s a MATT-er-a-FACT THE 'CIRCUS' COMES TO TOWN— I don't know how many of you have ever seen a Gene Wett- Mone-pi odviced gymnastics extravaganza (and I’m not trying to sell tickets because less than 50 of an approximate 6000 remain; but to moiiow night's show looks like the best of a successful bi-annual group. You might even term it a citcus, with all the usual negative conotations of cheapness gone and only the flair, color, showman ship and magnificence remaining. (How could you possibly “lower” a pcifoimance that includes a championship team with an opera .singer, pianist and concert Blue Band to add a special air.) The musical program begins at 7 p.m. for all early-comers (and the standing-room-only crowd will necessitate an early arrival) with the main program slated to start at 7:30, Welt-tune plans to end the night in less than three hours. In fact he has timed it in simulated tnal runs and has set the closing hour at 10 15 Th<' thoroughness of the master showman can be exemplified by a set of thii tv-odd time .sheets and information sheets on the Klims .uid the meet Following piano numbers by Stan Epstein and the Concert Blue Band, Dr. Kent Foister will make introductory remarks at 7 35 At 7 -40, the men's parallel bats competition begins (during the performance soft piano music by Epstein). 7:55 —Team exercises by Finnish gnl.s. « p m.—Men’s side house competition (again “soft” piano selec tions) 11.15—Individual fiee standing exercises by girls (Blue Band plays “Around the World”). 8:20—Solo selection by singer Ikonen. B.2s—Men’s still rings competition (moie “soft” music). B:4s—Fin nish Women on balance beam and parallels, 8:50-9—Intermission. 9:ls—Finnish women in team drill with hoops and balls. 9:20 Long horse vaulting competition. 9:3s—Finnish women in tam bourine polanaise. 9:4o—Men's horizontal bar competition. 10 Closing ceremonies, including awards to all-around winners and student gifts of blue Penn State blazers to each Finnish performer. Also a footnote to the ceremonies: "During the second chorus (of “I’ll Be Seeing You”) Mi Ikonen will sing (pending on whether he can adapt his voice to key of ‘F’—he has been practicing in ’C Major.)” But Wettstone doesn’t just plan the Friday night program. He has planned active days for the Finns from the moment they arrive at 2 p ni. today until thev leave Monday morning. After arriving and getting settled at the Nittany Lion Inn they will "practice and run through the entire program in Recrea tion Hail'' from 4 to 8 p m. Tonight they will be the guests at the West Virginia basket ball game which "is optional but it will prove very interesting as the game is a big one." Tomorrow the Finns will relax for the meet and a busy Satur day schedule. Saturday morning they will “tour the downtown stores , . , with fraternity and soioiity members as guides.” Tne men will lunch at Phi Gamma Delta and the women will lunch at the women's dining halls. They will then attend the Temple gvm meet at 2 p.m. and also the Lehigh wrestling match at 7:30. At 10 p.m. a "rock-and roll" dance will be held for them in the main ballroom of the HUB. Any couple may attend. Incidentally, “Ambassador” Wettstone has also planned the entire two-month tour of the U S for the Finns.
