on June 21 to Nick Flager, who
graduates from Princeton this

LeSage Receives Grant
For French Research
Dr. Laurent Le Sage, professor
of Romance - languages, has re
ceived a Fulbright senior research
grant for France for the 1958-59
academic year.
He will prepare a book on con
temporary French literary criti
' cism.
LeSage, who has served on the
faculty since 1949, will be on a
leave of absence from July 1,
1958, to June 30, 1959.

Scholarship to Ward
Lynn Ward, junior in journal-,

award from the Associated Editors
Society of Pittsburgh.
The award, which includes a
citation and a scholarship of $lOO,
was presented at the luncheon
meeting of the AESOP Confer
ence at the Carlton House Hotel
in Pittsburgh.

Frosh Talent
Replaces Fun
A "Class Night" freshman talent show will replace the
Orientation Week Fun Night next fall.
All-University Cabinet voted unanimously last night to
expend a maximum of $285 in funds for the "talent" night.

ment, and a dance will follow.

gram would definitely promote
greater class• spirit.
In a discussion about the cost
of the show John Gingrich, All-
University secretary - treasurer,
told Cabinet the changes might
run over $347 if costs of orches
tra, recreation hall and refresh
ments were included. The Fun

Band wil play for the dance
free of charge since the "night"

cussion with Dean of Men Frank
J. Simes. The estimated costs for
refreshments would raise the
costs over last year, he said.
Fridy also suggested the talent
show might be used to kick off
the freshman customs and to in
troduce cheers.
