FRIDAY, MAY 2, 1958 Lion-Pitt Golfers May Get Confused: 'Reilly? Which Reilly Do You Mean?' When Penn State's golfers lay their undefeated record on the line Saturday against the University of Pittsburgh in the Steel City, passersby are likely to get a little confused with the names of two participants—Pat and Bill Reilly. Pat is the number one man and captain of Coach Joe Boyle's Nittany aspirin pounders, while Bill, Pat's brother, is number two man and captain of the Panthers. How did the pair come to enter different colleges? "Well," the soft-spoken Lion captain ex plained, "Bill wanted to strike out for himself at a different school. All during high school, he sort of played in my shadow." And it may be a good thing that the Panther half of the brother combination isn't going to meet Pat when the two Eastern powers collide. For. Bill has foun it tough to beat his brother, eve though he may have been : uccessful striking out on his own. "To tell the truth," "the only time I've eve against him in competit for a country club ch ship at Sharon. I won, Explaining the victory brother, Pat touched of Bill's outstanding char temperament. "He had after nine holes," Pat he tried to take a shorte tenth hole, and landed trees. By the time he he was missing three cl few strokes. He explo that, and I won easily." ) "Bill always gambles.' Pat con tinued, "and you could compare him to Billy Joe Patton (notorious for taking big chances)." Accord ing to Pat, his brother is con stantly letting off stem 'on the course. "but it doesn't affect his play. He sort of gets tight if he isn't mad at something." To prove his point, Pat point ed out the incident that hap pened during Bill's match with State's Jim Gerhart last year. "Bill got stuck in a trap, and he couldn't see the green or the flag. He blasted out and didn't like the shot, so he broke his club, uttered some vernacular explica tives, and bounced his head on the ground—as the ball rolled in the cup. Bill drove Gerhart out of his mind last year, and beat him." Does this odd situation put a strain on Reilly's parents? Pat Indie V-Ball Playoffs began Wednesday night to crown a champion in the Indie Volleyball tournament. The Bullets took the first step in defending their crown when they beat Nittany Co-op, 15-10, 8-15, 15-10. Hanna's Horrors nipped the' Leviathins, 18-16, 15-8, and the Hurricanes breezed by Nittany 38, 15-2, 15-7. The winners, along with the McKee Trojans—who drew a bye, will meet in the semi-finals at Rec Hall next week, In the fraternity tournament, Sigma Chi won the League H title by beating Beta Theta Pi, 15-5, 16-14. Of course, each of the broth ers has their own view as to the winner of Saturday's match. "We've played in two better-bail tourna ments together, winning one and coming in second in the other," Pat said. I'm the only one who can play with him and put up with his temperament because I ' just ignore it."
