Group Attempts'
To Establish
Loco! DeMolay
Students who are members of
the Order of DeMolay are at-.
tempting to establish a chapter at
the University.
The chapter, when formed, will
be limited to students.
In order to reach male students
who might be members, informa
tion on the plans have been dis
tributed through the Air Force
and Army ROTC classes.
William E. Sayers, freshman in
arts and letters from Carlisle, who
is heading the group seeking to
establish the chapter, said that al
though at the present the group
is interested mainly in contacting
students who are now in DeMolay,
after the chapter is organized, stu
dents not now members will be
offered the opportunity to affil
iate with the chapter.
The Order of DeMolay, com
posed of young men between 14
and 21 years of age, was founded
in 1919 in Kansas City, Mo., by
Frank S. Land. Building better
citizens and leaders are among its
goals. It is sponsored by the Ma
sonic Blue Lodges but member
ship does not lead to affiliation
with any Masonic order.
Anyone who is a DeMolay
member may contact either Stan
ley Foster at AD 7-4444 or William
Sayers at AD 8-8441 x 3584.

The new system has simplified
long distance phoning immensely,
according to James F. Barr Jr.,
company representative. Thirty
years ago it took five operators
as long as 14 minutes to make a
long distance call, he said. Now
one operator can make it in less
than a minute.
In many areas, people can make
their own calls by dialing a three
digit regional code number be
fore the local number. All code
numbers contain a zero or 4 one
so they will not conflict with
local numbers, Barr said.
