WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 1953 None Gain Hall of Fame BOSTON, Feb. 4 (JP)—The Base ball Writers Assn. of America failed to elect a former major league player to the Hall of Fame for the first time since 1950, it was announced today. Hy Hurwitz, secretary-treasurer of the association, announced that no player received 75 per cent of the votes necessary for election. There were 266 eligible ballots distributed to 10-year members of the association, making the total necessary for election 199 votes. Max Carey-, former Pittsburgh outfielder and Brooklyn Dodger manager, received the highest number of votes with 136.
