PAGE two Fraternity Counselors Approve IFC Compulsory Auditing Plan The Association of Fraternity Counseit:rs has voted 17-2 to support the Interfraternity Council's proposal for the compulsory auditing of fraternity books. The proposal, currently awaiting action by the Senate Committee on Student Affairs, was presented at the Counselors meeting Thursday night by Richard Christian, chairman of the TFC audit committee. Christian said he will include the endorsement in his next re port to the Senate committee, sometime in February. The IFC proposal would re quire all fraternities to have their books audited annually, and gives a proof of the audit to , the University. Under this plan, however, the figures of the audit would not have to be released. The original proposal which came from the Senate committee' would require fraternities and sororities to have the audit per formed and the figures released to the University. Senate action on the prepays! has been postponed while Pan bethink Council prepares a re port on sorority audit practices. The action on the issue began after the Senate recommended, that all student organizations, in cluding fraternities and sororities... be required to submit the audit. WC submitted their counter-plan at a meeting in December. Action on the proposal was ; first postponed because the fig ures in the IFC report, taken from a questionnaire from fraternities, represented only about SO per cent of the fra ternities and were considered inconclusive by the Senate. The Senate also asked at this , time for a report from sororities on the question- Grace Antes, president of Pan hel, told the Senate yesterday that Panhel was preparing a re port on the audit similar to the one given by IFC, Action was postponed until the report can be completed and presented. ,Walker Invited i 4 Officers Elected 'Loud' Frosh !To Conference in Military Society • John Wavier, junior in civil • Get Probation : President Eric A. One of the students also was recommended to the dean of men's office for office probation because the board believed the student was using his influence among others in the hall to dis credit the counselor. The dean's office approved the recommenda tion and also decided to send a letter to the student's parents. The students told the board they did not believe they were guilty of frequently making ex-, cessive noise. They said the corn plaints by the students in the neighboring room were caused by the fact that there was only a door separating the two rooms to , block the noise created by their talking. they told the board the room they occupy was built to be used as a study room and lacks closet space. The students said the ab sense of a closet in their room aided the transmission of sounds to the adjoining room and was the main cause of their trouble with the Department of Housing. MEETING . . . PENNSYLVANIA Fishburn Asks Groups To Report Rotation Stand - Peter Fishburn, r -airman of the All-University Elections Committee, has requested student organizations which have taken a stand on the fraternity-independent rotation system to contact him before the end o He asked that the groups stand on the issue and of the , reasons behind it. Fishburn's ad-! dress is Phi Gamma Delta. The rotation system subcom-: mittee of the Elections Commit-1 tee is now studying .the system,; which rotates the All-University: and class offices from year to year between students of fra-i ternity and independent affilia-, tion. The subcommittee's report on the issue will contain informa tion on the various stands talc en by student organizations. The Elections Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Feb. 4 in the Helsel Union Building to go over the results of the subcom mittee's study. The completed report will be presented to All-University Cab-, inet Feb. 13. - Fishburn said, "It isn't at all evident yet whether the commit-. tee will include a definite rec-' ommendation in its report to Cab-i inet. From the information which . has been gathered so far, there appears to be no clear-cut answer, to the rotation question." The main arguments for an open system. Fishburn said, are that all students, regardless of affiliation, should have a chance to run for the office they desire and that student government representation would thus be improved. He said the main argument for. retaining the present system deals' with fraternity-independent rela tions and equal representation in: student government for the.two; groups.
