PAGE EIGHT Death Claims 3 Professors During Summer Three professors—Dr. Harold M. Hipsh. Richard M. Bower and Jane A. Bovie—died during the summer. Ilipsh, professor and head of the Department of Aeronautical En gineering, died May 23 at his home. Hipsh came to the University in 1953 after serving as supervisor of a propulsion research group for Convair in Ft. Worth, Texas. He was recognized as one of the out standing research men in the field of plane design and missiles. Bower Died Sept. 3 Bower, assistant professor of hotel administration died Sept. 3 at Centre County Hospital, Belle fonte. Before coming to the University in 1947. he was manager of the Hercules Country Club in Wil mington, Del., and cafeteria man ager for James Lees and Sons Co., Bridgeport. Miss Bovie. associate professor of child development and family relationships, died June 27 in Yellowstone National Park, where she was employed for the sum mer. Teacher Since 1945 She had served on the faculty since 1945 and was known to many residents of the area through her work in the Home Economics Nursery School. Prior to her appointment to the University faculty, Miss Boyle was an instructor in home eco nomics at Bowling Green State University and earlier served as a hospital dietician in Gallipolis, Ohio, and as a home management supervisor with the Farm Secur ity Administration in Batavia, Ohio. The violators who appeared be fore the board last night will meet members of the board at noon to day at the Mall bulletin board to .prove they are wearing dress customs and their penalties. Violators who failed to appear when summoned will be contact ed again and will receive stiffer penalties. Research Reactor Aids in Testing A set of fuel elements for the research reactor at the University of Sao Paulo. Brazil. vas recently tested at the University's research reactor. The elements P are of a new de sign manufactured by the Bab cock & Wilcox Company for the Brazil reactor. The research reactor at the Uni versity of Sao Paulo will be the first reactor built in South Ameri ca and th e highest powered "swimming-pool" reactor in the world at this time. Trust Fund Gives $250 to Research A gift of $250 has been given to the University by the Herbert and Ernst Grunfeld Trust of-New York City to support research leading toward increased metal lurigical efficiency in mineral preparation processing plants. The research will be conducted in the Department of Mineral Preparation of the College of Min eral Industries. The trust supports educational and research activities at the graduate /evel.
