Mass Expansion PiannedTryouts Set For Students, Turkeys For Music - By DENNY MALICK ' Groups The University is conducting a mass project of expandmgi and improving housing conditions for men, women and tur keys No one—or thing—is being left out in the big construc tion project on campus with plans for expansion ranging from new men's dormitories to new brooder houses for turkeys. The big project started last year is the construction of four women's dormitories and a din ing hall for the area. The pro ject. financed by the University, is nearin, completion and offi cials hope to have the entire five building unit finished b 3) the spring semester, barring any un foreseen holdups. . . - Facilities for men are to be ex panded with a quadrangle of four new dormitories and a din ing hall along Park Avenue near the water tower. Contracts have been let for the projects. To Build Bakery The increase in enrollment also necessitated plans for an addition to the food service building lo cated beside the golf course. When completed the new portion will house an enlarged bakery and added facilities for staples and frozen foods in addition to offices. Buchart Engineering Corpora tion, York. has been contracted to design four new agriculture buildings incinding a turkey brooder house, turkey breeder house, meats laboratory and swine facility. New Military Building The York firm has also been commissioned to plan a military science building and an addition to Home Economics South. De tailed plans are being developed and bids are expected to be out by the end of the year. Tentative completion date for the two buildings is September 1959. The GSA has also contracted with Howell Lewis Shay and As sociates, Philadelphia, for plan ning a new three-story engineer ing building, an addition to Sack ett Building and a petroleum re fining laboratory.
