In 2-Week Festival
A Festival of the Arts, exhibiting work of students in art,
dramatics and music is being conducted through May 19 bv
the School of the Arts, and the Departments of Art and Music
Education and the division of home art
The festival opened Sunday with a piano and voice re
in the Department of Music.
The festival has been held in
past years but has never been as
unified as this year’s program.
Architecture Included
In past years, the Department
of Architecture held its exhibit at
a different time in the Sackett
Building and the division ofj

The Hillel Foundation will hold
election of officers today and to
morrow.

Entomology Professor
Wins Memorial Prize
Dr. Charles W. Rutschky, as
sociate professor of entomology,
was awarded the Darbaker Me
morial prize of the Pennsylvania
Academy of Science at the meet
ing of the academy held in
Waynesboro.
The award was based on a
paper by Dr. Rutschky entitled,
"Respiration of the Eggs of the
Milkweed Bug.”

els, all the work of students, will
be displayed.
Work to Be Judged

a jury this year for the first time.]
The work will be evaluated on‘
the basis of merit and diversity]
representing a crosr-section of
the department’s offerings. i
The work of art education stu
dents will be displayed in the
Temporary Classroom Building
and that of home art students
in the Home Economics Building.
A tea will be held in the HUB
from 3 to 5 p.m. May 12 in con
nection with the festival.

As the dramatic contribution to
the festival, the Penn State Play

Pre-Vet Club Banquet
Dr. J. F. Shigley, professor of
veterinary science until his re
tirement in 1948, will speak at the
second annual banquet of the
Pre-Vet Club at 6 p.m. Friday .in
the Presbyterian Church.
The banquet, which honors
students accepted by veterinary
schools. is open to the public.
