SEPTEMBER 12. 1956 HUB Provides ;Beta Sigma Omicron, AZ Activities Center Place First in Scholarship For Students The Hetzel Union Building, recognized center of student activities, is now in its second year of operation. The building, located on Pollock Road, provides office space and meeting rooms for more than 25 campus groups, .a completg food service, and facilities for relpxation, recrea tion, and education. Its operating hours are: Mon day through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. • The HUB was named in honor of Dr. Ralph Dorn Hetzel, presi dent of the University from 1926; until his death in 1947. Recreation facilities in the HUB include the following: first floor—lounges; a reading room,' „4 music room with a grand piano, and seven soundproof booths for .listening to records,. an art gal lery, an auditorium which seats 200, and a ballroom accommodat- Ing 700 couples: basement—a tel evision room, a game room with facilities for table) tennis. shuf fleboard, cards, and checkers, and a dark room for amateur photo gni ph ers. The Lion's Den snack bar, the Terrace Room cafeteria, and a private dining room for groups of 50 to 200 constitute the eating facilities. The Terrace Room hours are: luncheon, 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.: and dinner, 5 to 6:45 p.m. Snack bar hours. are: Monday through - Thursday, 7:15 mil. to 10 p.m.: Friday, 7:15 a.m. to 10:45 p.m.: Saturday, 8 a.m. to '10:45 p.m.; and • Sunday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Also included in tht HUB base ment are the Eook Exchange. a student store for school supplies. and the Used Book Agency, for buying and selling used text :•:books. The campus post office is lo cated on the ground floor of the 'HUB, with "University Park" as the mailing address Records used in the music room :and equipment for the game room imay be obtained at the student !union desk by showing matricu >lion cards. Tickets for dances, :plays, and shows are also dis •tributed at the desk, as well as student publications. Athletics Student Council was or ganized to establish better stu dent-faculty relations, and to represent students enrolled in physical education, health edu cation,' and recreation education curriculums. Beta Sigma Omit.ror.'s average of 3.13 was the highest average for any group, and Alpha Zeta placed first among fraternities and fourteenth among with a 2.78. Kappa Alpha Theta! was in second place with a 3.041 l average, and runner-up for fra-; ternity honors—but finishing 26th among all groups was Triangle.
