IM Wrestling Opens
Four Champions
Defend Titles

Defending champions Tom
Webb, Armour Bla c k, Paul
Brown and Jack Stuart won their
opening matches last night as
this year's IM wrestling tourna
ment got underway at Recreation
Hall.
Black flashed the form that
took him to the crown last year
as he pinned Don Asendorf of
Alpha Tau Omega with a reverse
nelson in 3:38. Black had a 4-2
lead over his willing opponent
when he got the fall.
Brown, last year's 155-pound
champ, had his hands full with
Phi Epsilon Pi's Ted Cohen be
fore pinning him.
Cohen wrestled defensively in
the first period and was able
to fend off several takedown
attempts by Brown. Brown re
versed him soon after the be
ginning of the second period
however, and gained the pin at
2:27.
Stuart, also of DU, had Pi Sig
ma Upsilon's John Price in trou
ble from the start. Stuart got the
takedown and three near falls on
his outgunned opponent, then
pinned him with 'a half nelson
and wrist hold.
• Webb, of Chi Phi, the other de
fending champion, got a forfeit
win over Jim Harper of Tau Kap
pa Epsilon.
Ralph Cryder of Beta Theta Pi,
a finalist last year, gave the on
lookers a fine exhibition of wrest
ling finesse in pinning Leroy
Varettoni of Phi Kappa Tau. Cry
der was all over his opponent
from the outset, and pinned 'him
with a reverse nelson and arm
bar.
Duane Campbell of Sigma Phi
Epsilon established himself as a
contender in the 145 pound class
by pinning Frank Strauss of Phi
Kappa Psi. Other 145 pound class
winners were Ed Palmer of Sig
ma Nu, who pinned Bob Evanko
of Theta Kappa Phi, and Bob Mc-
Millan of Delta Tau Delta, who
pinned George Goldstein of Sig
ma Alpha Mu.
Jack Frey of Beta Theta Pi.
and Sigma Nu's Dave Barney
scored impressive wins in the
155 pound class. Frey needed
only a minute and 17 seconds
to pin Ed Olsen of Tau Kappa
Epsilon, and Barney needed
even less, pinning Phi Kappa
Psi's Chuck Carabell in a min
ute and 5 seconds.
Also in the 155 pound division,
Norm Whitehouse of SPE, and,
Jim Brubaker of Delta Upsilon,
won by forfeit. Whitehouse won
over A.G.R.'s Bob Neff and Bru
baker over Phi Gamma Delta's
Jim Lessig.
Don Wright of Alpha Zeta
paced the 165-pound entries, win
ning a 3-0 decision over Don
Dowden of Sigma Phi Epsilon.
Wright rode his opponent
throughout the entire match.
Fritz Condon of Theta Delta
Chi, Willis Kuhns of Chi Phi. and
Jack Winterbottom of Phi Kappa
Psi got forfeit wins.
The 175 pound division fea
tured the program's outstand
ing bouts. Beside Brown's win,
three other falls were regis
tered. Phil Sieg of Chi Phi
pinned John Bruno of Lambda
Chi Alpha in 17 seconds. and
Dan VanDuyne got a fall over
Theta Delta Chi's Bill Snyder
in 56 seconds for the quickest
pins of the night.
Alpha Sigma Phi's Harry Brown
pinned Don Tinsman of Acacia,
and Ben Lentz of Sigma Phi Ep
silon pinned Bob Barette of Sig
ma Chi in other 175 pound class
matches.

Jody Hough led Pi Beta Phi to
a 535-475 win over Alpha Kappa
Alpha when she rolled 121. The
loser's Grace Smith netted a 132
total.
Outing. Club's Winter
Division Meets Tonight
The winter sports division .of
the Outing Club will meet at 7:30
tonight in Hetzel Union Assembly
hall.
A ski trip to Mount Tremblant,
located above Montreal will be
discussed. The trip is tentatively
scheduled for the Easter vacation.
After the business meeting two
ski movies will be shown.
The Outing Club's roller skat
ing party, scheduled for Sunday,
has been changed io an outing'at
the Boalsburg ski cabin.

In IM Volleyball League
Delta Zeta and Delta Delta,
Delta copped victories in th e
women's intramural volleyball
Tuesday night when the DZ's
beat Alpha. Kappa Alpha 31-28
and Tri Deli topped Alpha Xi
Delta 51-15. 1
Delta Zeta held the tail-end of
a 12-11 halftime score before it
edged Alpha Kappa Alpha by
three points.
Barbara Funk led the DZ's in
scoring with nine points, while
Barb Drum had eight.
Sandy Cunningham was high
[scorer for the losers with nine
points.
Maureen Funk was the highest
point-producer of the night when
she scored 17 points for Tri Delt's
trampling 51-15 win. Gail Hazen
scored 11 points for the winners.
Barb Kabakjian and Pat Kil
dee shared eight points for the
losers.
In Monday night's action Kap
pa Kappa Gamma beat Kappa
Delta 38-32 and Kappa Alpha

Phi Tau Leads Keglers;
AGR Splits in A-Loop
Phi Kappa Tau strengthened its hold on League A in TM frater
nity bowling Tuesday night defeating Alpha Zeta, 3-1. Phi Tau now
leads Alpha Gamma Rho by two games.
Although Alpha Zeta took the first game of the match with a
725 score, Phi Tau came back with an 813-point rally to go on and
win, 2192-2083, The one-game loss dropped the Phi Tau bowlers
from the undefeated rank, but
wasn't enough to diminish its
lead. Phi Tau now holds a 19-1
record, and dropped AZ to the
500 mark, 10-10.
Alpha Gamma Rho, held to a
3-1 victory last week, could only
muster a 2-2 split with Delta Sig
ma Phi. The Delta Sig keglers
took the first game with a 784
score, and although AGR took the
two remaining games, it was not
able to overcome the deficit.
Delta Sig outscored its opponents,
2199-2104. AGR now owns a 17-3
slate with Delta Sig tied for third
with 12-8.
Sigma Phi Epsilon also tied for
third place honors. downed Alpha
Phi Delta, 3-1. Alpha Phi Delta
picked up its lone point in the
second game with 765 pins. SPE

Phi Delta pressed its attack with
a high game of 750 pins. Tau Phi
Delta and AEPi are now knotted
for fifth place with 7-13 slates.
