PAGE EIGHT 6 Colleges Will Lose AFROTC Five colleges in Massachusetts and Columbia University will lose their Air Force Reserve Officers’ Training Corps units, the New York Times stated yesterday. Amherst College, Tufts Univer sity, and Lowell Technological Institute have been added to a cessation list already including Harvard University and Williams College. Col. Daniel F. Riva, professor of air science, has announced that the University was not one of the colleges confirmed in the Pentagon’s report on affected in stitutions. The Times said that more than 20 colleges and universities in the country would discontinue their AFROTC programs at the end of the 1956-57 academic year. They were not producing enough pilot-grade officers to justify the expense, the Air Force has said. Col. Riva said Wednesday that the order affects only small col leges and those either not pro ducing enough graduate officers or those with indifferent instruc tion programs. Land-grant col leges and universities have had no trouble in meeting their grad uate quotas, he said. Approximately 155 students graduate from the University each year. About 100 of them are eli gible for pilot training, he said. Club to Hear Dotterer Dr. Ray H. Krall to Get Probation Note Set on Record The Senate Committee on Stu dent Affairs subcommittee on dis cipline decided yesterday to ex tend the sentence of disciplinary probation recommended by, Tri bunal Tuesday for Peter Krall to include having a notation of the incident placed on his record. Tribunal had recommended dis ciplinary probation for Krall, sen ior in animal husbandry frotn Catasauqua, with the stipulation that a notation not be placed on his record because of hfs seventh semester standing. However, the subcommittee felt that such action would be incon sistent with usual- procedure in cases of disciplinary probation. Krall may petition to have him self removed from disciplinary probation during his eighth se mester, and thus remove the no tation. Krall was called before Tribun al for having left the scene of an accident in which he was in volved Nov. 13.
