PACE SIX Netmen Defeated By Maryland, 6-2. Coach Sherm Fogg's tennis team dropped their second contest in as many outings yesterday, when the University of Maryland swept six of eight matches and walloped the Lions, 6-2 at Col lege Park, Maryland. The Penn State netmen will try again today, when they meet a strong Navy squad on the Middies home courts at Annapolis. Maryland gained a measure of revenge for Christiansen, who picked up his second win of the State netmen. The final doub les match was halted because of rain Christiansen, playing in the fifth spot for the Lions, defeated Rollie Wills in the final set and captured the match 6-1, 3-6, 6-3. Christiansen's steady play, which earned him the only win in the Pennsylvania encounter, again stood by him as Wills wilted in the final set and failed to main thin the pace. Zuker, who replaced Larry Ad ler in the sixth spot, was hard pressed for an 8-6 victory in the first set over Don Kammerer; however, the Lion netman re turned and walloped Kammerer in the final set 6-2 for the win. Fogg's number one man and captain, Bill Zeigler, again failed to regain his pre-season form as he was defeated by sophomore Dave Sreishtat, 6-1, 6-1. Zeigler also was beaten Saturday by Penn's Charley Reiger. Ed Sell ing also tasted the bitter pill of defeat as the Terrapins Bud Leightheiser ran up a 6-2 and 6-1 victory. The Lions' number four man, Dean Mullen, dropped a close one to Maryland's Paul Eckel, 6-2, 6-4. Although Eckel won by a sizeable margin, Mullen dropped some "heartbreakers" when his return either struck the top of the net, or was sensationally re turned by Eckel. Terrapin Jack Clifford walloped John Cleary in the third match, 6-3, 6-0. Maryland also swept both doubles matches before the rain finished the third contest. Sreish tat teamed with Clifford to de feat Zeigler and Mullen, 3-8, 8-3, 6-1. And Leightheiser paired with Eckel to club Christiansen and Selling, 8-3, 8-0.
