Dr. F. Anderson Andrews, di
rector of publications for. Russell
Sage Foundation and an author
ity on American foundations, will
address the Constituent Body of
the Social Science Research Cen
ter at 4 p.m. Tuesday in 316

Andrews will speak on "Ameri
can Foundations, Their Interests,
and Methods of Operation."
A graduate of Franklin and
Marshall College, Andrews joined
The MacMillan Company as man
ager of advertising printing and
later director of the mail service
department. He has held his pre
sent position with Russell Sage
foundation since 1928. Since 1941,
he has been a consultant for the
20th Century Fund.

a member of the 1942-49 'choir.

Medieval Painting
To Be on Display
Medieval Manuscript Painting
will be on display at the Pattee
Library thrOugh December.
The illustrations shown are
photographs of the manuscripts of
the Pierpont Library in New York
City.
The pictures were taken by Dr.
Winston 'Weisman, assistant pro
fessor of fine arts.
Dr. Weisman explained that
su ch paintings were made
throughout Europe and in the
areas bordering the Mediterranean
until the advent of the printing
press in the early 17th century.

These included questions on the
aims and purposes of the parties,
their method of selecting clique,
All-University, and class officers,
financial provisions, and the de
lineation of•powers.

Knerr Is Named Dean
Henry W. Knerr, professor of
physics, has been appointed as
sistant dean of the Graduate
School. Knerr previously held the
title of assistant to the dean of
the graduate school. The change
