Blood Drive
Tops oal

The blood drive exceeded its
goal yesterday by 22 pints.
One hundred seventy-two pints
of blood were collected by the
Johnstown Bloodmobile in the
opening day of the drive. The
goal for the day was 150 pints.
The drive will continue from
10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today in the
Temporary Union Building. To
day's goal is also 150 pints.
"It was the walk-ins who made
this visit a success," Benjamin A.
Whisler, chairman of the blood
program for the State College
Chapter of the American Red
Cross, said last night "It was a
very successful operation."
Of the 91 donors scheduled for
yesterday, 75 appeared. One hun
dred eleven walk-ins made a total
of 186 persons who applied.
Twelve persons were rejected
yesterday because they could not
meet the requirements. A total of
174 donors gave blood. Sixty-two
persons were first-time donors.
Walk-ins will be accepted at
any time today, but are pre
ferred between 11 a.m. and noon
because that hour is not as fully
scheduled.
Donors will be given a physical
examination before donating. Per
sons under 21 must have a re
lease form signed by their par
ents or guardian.
Anyone who has had an oper
ation within the past six months
must have his doctor's advice be
fore donating. Persons who weigh
less than 110 pounds may donate
only a fraction of a pint.
Course Report
OK'd by Senate
The University Senate has ap
proved the report of the Senate
committee on courses of study
which altered and added courses
,to curriculums in. the colleges.
In the report, 15 curriculums
were changed, 29 courses were
changed, 19 courses were dropped,
11 were added and the prere
quisites of 18 courses were altered.
The Senate also passed a mo
tion by the committee to set April
1 as the deadline for receiving
changes in courses and curriculum
to be used in the University cata
logue. The previous deadline was
May 1.
Profs to Address
Philosophy Club
Dr. Henry W. Johnstone, assis
tant professor of philosophy, and
Dr. Erne - st H. Freund, head of the
department of philosophy, will
conduct a discussion of the
"Value of Values" at a meeting
of the Philosophy Club.
The newly-organized group will
meet at 7 tonight in Simmons
lounge. It functions mains; as an
open discussion group rather than
a student group within a depart
ment.
Zeigler to Address Club
P. Thomas Zeigler, professor of
animal husbandry, will address
the Block and Bridle Club at 7:30
tonight in 206 Agriculture.
Fall Final Exam Schedule Released
Final examinations will begin at 8 a.m. Jan. 20, and will end at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 28
A student who has two examinations scheduled for the same time or three on one
day may file a conflict card in the scheduling office, 2 Willard. The filing Of conflict cards
will begin tomorrow and will end Dec. 10.
Seniors who plan to graduate Jan. 31 and who have an examination after 7 p.m
Jan. 26 should file a conflict card. ,
Changes of schedule within the
examination period must have the
approval of the dean of the college
and the University scheduling of
ficer.
A students who is absent from
a final examination may have his
grade deferred upon the authori
zation of his dean if he has a le
gitimate reason • for missing the
examination. Grades may be de
ferred only four weeks 'after the
beginning of the spring semester
unless special action is taken.
Grading in such cases is in ac
cordance with rule M-5 under
Senate regulations concerning
"Grades."
If the time and room for the
examination has not been an
nounced the term "By app't" is
used. "See List" means that the
room will be announced in the
class.
Examination periods are from
8 a.m. to 9 p.m.; 8-10, 10:20-12:20,
1:20-3:20, 3:4C-5:40, 7-9 p.m.
