PIiSGE Ag Council Opposes Proposed Course Agriculture Student Council Tuesday night went on rec ord as opposing a proposed course in international relations to be required for students in all courses. 1 The proposal, which was passed by the Mont Alto student encampment before the beginning of the semester, is ex pected to come up before All-University Cabinet tonight. Under the proposal, all students, before the completion of their eighth semester, would be re quired to enroll in a special course in international relations. If cabinet passes the proposal, it would have to be approved by the University Senate before go ing into effect. Members of council felt they did not have enough time to in clude the course in their curric ulum. Town Council May Organize Turkey Shoot Tentative plans for a turkey shoot were discussed by Town Council last night, although a def inite time and place were not agreed upon. - Council will await the report of Edwin Dull, fifth semester ani mal husbandry major, appointed last week as head of a committee to formulate plans. Other new business included the election of vice president and several appointments made by president Donald Weidner. Kay Rubner, fifth semester agriculture education major, defeated Wil liam Hodgson, third Semester me chanical engineering major, by an 8 to 4 vote for the vice presidency. Weidner called to the council’s attention the need for an office ■from which he and the secretary, could operate. Weidner said he believed there was a good chance that the council might be granted an office in Waring Hall. He ap pointed Joseph Janus, third se mester forestry major, as head of a committee to ask for an office. Rubner was named head of a committee to explore the possi bilities of acquiring a downtown building in which social functions of the council could be held. Arnold Air Plans Blushing Smoker The Arnold Air Society will hold its annual rushing smoker at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday at Phi Sig ma Kappa. The dress will be class A uniforms. All advanced Air ROTC stu dents with a 1.5 all-University average and a 2.0 air science aver age are eligible for membership. Prospective pledges will appear before a reviewing board Oct. 25 or 26. The pledge period will be gin Nov. 9. Pledge projects will be due shortly after the Thanks giving vacation. Ag Eng Society to Elect Secretory-Trees s urer The student branch of the American Society of Agricultural Engineers will elect a secretary treasurer at 7 tonight in 105 Ag riculture Engineering. SCHWAB ABMTOMBH The proposed course was one of four points in a resolution com ing from the academic policies committee at encampment aimed at making international under standing play “a great role in every student’s education.” Encampment also recommend ed that the faculty be encouraged to integrate international under standing in all courses, that ex isting programs encouraging in ternational understanding Jbe bet ter publicized, and that deans en courage students to elect courses in the field. Council did not discuss the other three points in the resolu tion. Earl Reinsel, sixth semester for estry major, presented the soft ball trophy to the Clover Club. Manley Case, editor of the Ag Hill Breeze, suggested that the paper be issued on Monday in stead of Wednesday. In the last issue of the Breeze, Case stated that a Monday edition would give the agriculture students a com plete ‘run-down” of the week’s events at the beginning. Case said that the Daily Col legian published all Breeze stor ies before the Breeze came out. Discuss Book Collection A book collection which the council is planning for the future was discussed. The books will be for the library of Silliman Uni versity in the Philippines. Coun cil hopes to have the collection include books other than those pertaining to agriculture. Virginio C. Juan, their-princi pal, .was .studying at the Univer sity when the vital signatures were needed.
