PAGE EIGHT Ed Policy Report Stays in Committee A report from the Senate committee on educational policy, rec ommending that - the committee on academic standards be relieved of some of its routine administrative duties so it can devote more time to policy concerning academ committee Thursday by Universit The report was referred back to committee because senate felt the committee should meet with the committee on academic stan dards to formulate further opinion on the matter. Committee Change Recommended The educational policy commit tee recommended that the com mittee on academic standards del egate some of its administrative duties, such as cases of students applying for readmission, to a sub committee of three persons repre senting three colleges. The report recommended the positions on this sub-committee be rotated alphabetically among the colleges, so that one college would not hold the position for more than three years. Some senate members felt these duties should be handled. by a committee in each of the nine colleges. Each committee would consider problems relating to its own students. In its report, the committee stated, that since most Pennsyl vania high schools require three English units for graduation, it should be made a formal admis sion requirement. At present, there are no formal English requirements stated in the University Catalogue. The new requirement will become ef fective when it is printed in the catalogue. .Adopts Rules Report Senate also adopted a report from the committee on rules, rec ommending that the Senate Rules for Undergraduate Students be al tered to fit the needs of students at University centers.
