PAGE -EIGHT Matson to Talk On Ceramics Dr. Frederick R. Matson, pro fessor of archaeology, will present the Sigma Xi lecture at 8 p.m. Thursday in 119 Osmond. He will discuss "Archaeology and the Ceramic Laboratory—the Technical Study of Ancient Ma terials." Dr. Matson in 1944 was named head of the glass section of the Armstrong Cork Co. research laboratories in Lancaster and in 1948 was appointed to the Uni versity faculty as professor of ceramics. He was appointed pro fessor of archaeology last July. Dr. Matson has done archae blogical field work in Iraq and the eastern United States. His interests are primarily in the technical- study of archaeological materials, such as pottery, glass met al s, pigments, plaster, and stone. Are we giving prospective college teachers the kind of prep aration they need? The final report of the com mittee is expected to include specific suggestions for action, Schilling said. After extensive consultation among the faculty and a number of revisions of the written report, a final report should be ready by next year, he said.
