SATURDAY, DECEMBER 5, 1953 Dinner Will Open Religious Institute A religious institute on the subject “International Aspects of Student Life” will open with a dinner from 5:30 to 8 tonight in the Hotel State College. Members of the planning committee for the institute, the board of directors of the Penn State Christian Asso ciation, and the PSCA cabinet wi Brass Quartet Wifi Precede Choral Concert : A double brass quartet will play chorales tomorrow from the tow er of St. Paul’s Methodist Church for a half hour before each per formance of the State College Choral Society’s Christmas pro gram. . The choir will present selections by Bach at performances at 3:30 and 7:30 p.m. Fifteen students will be among the 166 participat ing in the fifth annual concert. The concert will include chorus es and duets from the Kyrie, the Gloria, and the Sanetus, sections from the Mass in B minor. A chorale choir and the chorale players will sing chorales and recitatives from the Christmas Oratorio. A chamber orchestra will accompany the singing. Mrs. Dorothea Roscoe, organist, will play two chorale preludes for organ. A few free tickets are still available. They may be obtained at the Student Union desk in Old Main, Blair’s Gift Shop, the Har mony Shop, Keeler’s Book Store, and the College Book. Store. Seats will be reserved for ticket holders until 15 minutes before the performance begins. The faculty recital scheduled tomorrow afternoon in Schwab Auditorium was canceled because of the choral society program. Hafjer Re-elected Head Of Architecture Group A._ William Hajjer, professor of architecture, has been re-elected to a one-year term as national president of Scarab, honorary architecture fraternity. He was renamed to the post last week at the annual national con-, vention at the Univerity of Ill inois. Richard O. Stanley, sev enth semester architecture major, accompanied Hajjer as a delegate of the University Scarab chapter. Grad in Air Force Edward D. Pitkus, a 1953 grad uate of the University and former ROTC student, is now undergo ing Air Force pilot training at Goodfellow Air Force Base, Tex. Informal Discussion An informal discussion group for women and individual con ferences for both men and wo men are other events planned for students during the institute which will continue through Mon day. Miss Anderson will lead the discussion group at 1:30 p.m. to morrow in Simmons lounge. She will hold conferences with stu dents from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mon day in 304 Old Main to discuss her work and job opportunities in the missionary field. Coffee Hour A coffee hour tomorrow even ing in the Home Economics liv ing center for about 100 invited students and faculty members, and a faculty luncheon at noon Monday at the State College Ho tel will climax the institute. Miss Anderson will be guest of honor at the coffee hour. At the lun cheon she will speak on the topic, “Students Around the World.” Miss Anderson will also speak tomorrow in Chapel on “What Is Our Hope.” The institute is sponsored by PSCA and the Women’s Student Government Association. The Theta Bazaar, sponsored by Kappa Alpha Theta, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Kalin’s Men Store, will include argyle socks, aprons, hand crafts, and baked goods. Sorority members stressed that many articles will be priced under $l. Proceeds from the bazaar will go to the Institute of Logenpedics, a speech and hearing, clinic in Wichita, Kan. Zefa Zock Sale Multi-colored argyles, chevrons, and knee socks will be featured at the Zeta Zock Sale, sponsored by Zeta Tau Alpha from 1 to 4 p.m. in the vestibule of the Cor ner Room. Dorothy Osterhout, president, said that' the average price for a pair of socks will be $4. Proceeds will go into a schol arship fund. Alpha Omicron Pi will offer a variety of articles at the Knit Bake Sale from 2 to 5 p.m. in the rear dining room of the Corner Room. Merchandise will include mittens, socks, scarves, dolls, Christmas centerpieces, and baked goods.
