queen at the Agriculture Student Council’s Harvest Ball from 9 p.m.
to midnight tonight in Recreation Hall..
Tickets for the semi-formal dance will be on sale today in the
main hall of Agriculture Building, in the lobby of Hamilton Hall,
and at the Student Union desk in
Old Main. They are priced at $2
per couple and will also be on
sale at the door.
A -large blue and white banner
spelling “Harvest' Ball” will be
at the entrance. -At the far end
of the hall will hang a dark blue
backdrop covered, with silver
musical notes and decorations. A
blue background with silver musi
cal notes banded in blue and
white will furnish a background
for. Jolmny Nicolosi and his or
chestra.
Chosen by Applause
The queen will be chosen by
applause during intermission.
Judges will be John Nicolosi, band
leader; Fred Seipt, dance chair
man; and Paul H. Margolf, pro
fessor of poultry husbandry and
adviser to the student council.
Master of ceremonies will be
Robert Sutter, fifth semester ag
riculture engineering major. He
will make introductions and han
dle the contest.
The queen will receive an in
inscribed gold trophy. The run
nersup will be awarded silver
loving cups.
Committee Chairmen
Committee chairmen for the
dance are Seipt, general chair
man; Sutter, publicity; Clark Sell,
decorations; David Morrow, .tick
ets; and Peter Bond, refreshments.
The council requests that no
flowers be worjg to the dance. Re
freshments of-punch and cookies
will'be served.
WD Social Club
To Hold 'Snowball 1
The West Dorm Social Club
will hold its first annual “Snow
ball” dance from 9 to midnight
Saturday, instead of Friday as re
ported in Wednesday’s Daily Col
legian.
The Melody Men will play for
the semi-formal dance to be held
in the West Dorm lounge. Ad
mission will be by membership
cards only, Robert Gellman, so
cial committee head has an
nounced. The club has requested
that women do not wear corsages.
, The club will also hold an open
record dance from 9 to midnight
Dec. 12 in the lounge. Refresh
ments will be served.

To Be Tonight
The first coed swimming event
will be held, from 7:30 to 9:30
p.m; tonight in the Glennland
Building pool. If the swimming
period is successful, the plan may
develop into • a once-a-month
event.
Coeds taking part are asked to
bring their own bathing suits and
their matriculation cards.
Men and women may plan to
show-off. aquatic skills or, those
who can’t swim, can probably
find a teacher without trouble.
There is no charge for /use of
the pool. Arrangements for coed
swimming have, been made by
Gerald Maurey, Athletic Associa
tion president. A committe head
ed. py' Marcia Ferguson, is in
charge of the plans and publicity.
Window Fainting
Contest to Begin
The annual Christmas window
painting contest will begin today
for students in the West Dorm
living units, Stuart Horn, window
display committee chairman, has
announced.
The paintings will be done in
water colors .depicting any theme
pertaining to Christmas. Judging
for the contest will be done Dec.
13.
First prize will be $l5, second
$lO, and third $5. Prize money
will be taken from the council
assessment fund.
Sfudenf Union Sponsors
Square Dance Tonight
- An old-fashioned square dance
will feature a new dance band
from 8 to 10 tonight in the Tem
porary Union Building
The Student Union is sponsor
ing the dance as a means of in
troducing the Georgia Beavers, a
new band at the University. Du
ane Beals will do the calling.
The dance is open and no ad
mission will be charged.
Newman Radio Meeting
The Newman Club will discuss
radio production at 7. p.m. Tues
day at the Catholic Student Cen
ter. Phases to be considered are
typing, announcing, acting, di
recting, and scriptwriting.
PS Club to Hold Mixer
The Penn State Club will hold a
mixer with Thompson Hall'from
2 to 5 p.m. Sunday in the Bam
boo room of Thompson.

Annual Party
At 7:30 Tonight
Six church student groups will
take part in the Inter-Church Stu
dent Fellowship fall party at 7:30
tonight.
Wesley Foundation of the Meth
odist Church will hosts and
greeters for the ICSF party in
their gymnasium.
The Lutheran Student Associa
tion will be in charge of refresh
ments. Square dancing and games
will be under the supervision of
the Young Friends. Members of
the Friends group -will also pre
sent several folk songs during in
termission.

To Talk at
Three members of.the United Nations staff will speak to students
attending the United Nations student seminar, Thursday through
Dec. 13. They will discuss the functions of the UN and some of the
more important issues now being considered.
Andrew W. Cordier, assistant to the Secretary General of the UN;
Herman Block, head of technical
assistants; and Benjamin Cohen,
staff member, will address the
group.
The seminar will visit the Gen
eral Assembly, the Security Coun
cil, and various committee meet
ings. The group will also tour the
U.S. Mission for the UN, where
they will hear a talk by a member
of the mission.
International House
A luncheon at International
House, will give the seminar group
an opportunity to meet and talk
to foreign students. Some time
will also be available for general
sightseeing.
The trip, sponsored by the Penn
State Christian Association in co
operation with the Departments
of Political Science and Educa
tion, is open to students upon ap
plication and payment of a $5
deposit to be applied toward
transportation arid registration.
Application blanKs must be sub
mitted by Monday to the PSCA
office, 304 Old Main. They will
be accepted in order of receipt,
and no refunds on deposits will be
rriade after Monday. A meeting
of the group attending the sem
inar will be held at 4 p.m. Monday
in the Hugh Beaver room, Old
Main.
