Rosey Whetstone, a senior at Bedford High School, will House Hears Dance Plans Plans proposing “Thank You” dances for the women’s dormi tories were presented to the Wo men’s Student Government Asso ciation House of Representatives recently. The . dances, sponsored by the Barons, would be given in return for hospitality shown to Nittany-Pollock men. Joseph Gardecki, the Barons’ representative, said that further plans will have' to be made be fore these dances can materialize. However, the Barons hope to have the first dances from 6:30 to 8 p.m.' March 19 in McElwain and Thompson Halls. Another issue before House was this year’s May Day plans. May Pole dancers, it was decided, will be appointed by dormitory repre sentatives, each dorm having a fixed quota. The balloting for the May Day queen and her assistants was set for March 14 and 16. She has worked as a model in Washington. D.C. Miss Ziegler is a 5-3 brunette from Pittsburgh. The blue-eyed coed will be sponsored by. Sigma Chi. She is a member of the Penn State Women’s Chorus. In high school she was a member of the Snow Queen’s court. Miss Whetstone, a 5-5 blue-eyed blonde, will be sponsored by Lloyd Arms. Judges will select the Sweet heart by audience applause at the dance during intermission. PENNSYLVANIA 15 Students Named Leaders In UJA Drive Fifteen students have been named captains for the annual United Jewish Appeal drive which ends Sunday. This year’s goal has been set at $4200. Proceeds from the Purim Car nival to be held Saturday night at Hillel will also go to UJA. Booths and voting for the king and queen will be featured at the annual carnival. Alvin Goodman has been ap pointed captain in the West Dorms, and Sheldon Brown will supervise the drive in the Nit tany-Pollock area. Pan American Week Chairman Selected I Martha Petrus, eighth semester Spanish major, has been named jhairman of the all-College Pan American Week. Marilyn Dupont is secretary of the organization. Tentative plans have been made for a series of celebrations cen tering around Pan American Day, April 14. Dr. John Mackay, president of Princeton Theological Seminary, will deliver an address on a Pan American Week theme at the Chapel service April 12. Flag Raising Ceremony At a fiesta to be held in the Temporary Union Building April 13, the Spanish Club will present two plays in Spanish and several groups will dance folk dances. At this time announcement of the winner of the Pan American es say contest will be made. On April 14, Pan American Day, a special ceremony for raising the flags of the 21 Americas will be held in front of Old Main. Other activities for the week include a display in the Pattee Library and classroom talks. International Christian Univer sity is an interracial, interrelig ious, international university which will open at Mitaka, near Tokyo, Japan, in April. Fourteen Protestant denominations in North America and Europe are contributing to its support. Wesley Foundation has voted to contribute the offering of a re cent meeting to the scholarship fund, and Roger Williams Fellow ship and the Westminster Foun dation have pledged the offerings they will receive Sunday night. Edna Peterson, president of ICSF, stressed that contributions for the ICU scholarship will be received at any time during the spring semester. Contributions may be made through one of the local student religion groups or to ICSF directly through Miss Peter son.
