Mortar Board Plans
Ist Membership Poll
A poll of junior women to obtain a cross section of opinion on
who should be tapped for membership in - Mortar Board, senior wo
men's honorary society, will be conducted by members of the group
next semester
The poll will be held at the
same time as Women's Student
Government Association elections,
late in March, if WSGA approves.
Only sixth-semester women may
vote in the poll, because only wo
men in that semester are eligible
for membership, according to na
tional rules of 'Mortar Board.
Since one of the requirements
for membership into the honorary
society is an All-College average
of .3 above the' All-College aver
age of junior women, a list of
women scholastically eligible will
be compiled and included on the
ballots.
Each woman may vote for from
5. to 25 candidates, the number
of members allowed at any one
time by the group's constitution.
The poll will serve as a guide
and - will. not be binding in the
final selection of members. Mem
bers are chosen by a unanimous
vote of the active group.
The idea of a poll of junior
women is a result of the chapter's
recent visit to Bucknell, where
a similar system is used. At pre
sent, there are eight members in
the local chapter of Mortar Board.

This is one of the portraits Jean ordered for her
boy friend, Pvt. Joe Pascarella, formerly a Penn State
football player, if you still remember
Jean reminds me of Tommy Thomas, another re-
cent O.K. Joe girl. Both have that old-fashioned charm,
about them which isn't always found nowadays.
If you've been thinking about it, this is the ideal
time to have your sorority composite done. Drop up
today and see some examples.
