Griffith Named
New Secretary
Of Ed Council
Gwen Griffith, fifth semester
education major, was elected sec
retary-treasurer of the Education
Student Council Tuesday night.
She will be responsible for pub
lishing. “Edits,” the School of Ed
ucation newsletter. Nancy Nelsen
was -• selected as senior substitute
member.
The Council approved a motion
to interview professors in the
School, of Education regarding the
faculty rating system. The rating
system is a method already in use
in. which students are requested
to evaluate their education
courses.
The education student-faculty
tea tentatively set for Wednesday
has been postponed. The council
voted 'instead to accept the in
vitation of Dr. Charles M. Long,
head, of the Department of Edu
cation, to discuss problems of
education at his home. The infor
mal' meeting will be held at 7 p.m.
Wednesday at 523 Sunset road.
Coed Awarded Annual
Architecture Prize
Cynthia Palmer, fifth semes
ter .architecture major, has been
awarded the annual American In
stitute of Architects prize by the
central Pennsylvania chapter.
The prize amounts to §lOO.
The award is made to the stu
dent in the Department of Archi
tecture who has made the high
est grades during the sophomore
year.

The first in a series of programs
featuring campus personalities
and organizations’ “Spotlight on
State,” will be presented at 9:30
tonight over WMAJ.
The guest tonight will be Sever
Toretti, a member of the coach
ing staff who “spotted” the Uni
versity of Pennsylvania’s football
