Dean Gives
Deferment,
Explanation
There are three wayg in which
students may become eligible for
draft deferments, H. K. Wilson,
dean of men, said yesterday.
Students who now hold aca
demic deferments must reapply
for new deferments for next fall
at the Office of the Recorder,
basement of Willard Hall, and
have SSS Form 109 sent to their
draft boards. This should be done
before leaving campus for the
summer.
Requirements for 'an academic
deferment are standing in the
upper half of the freshman class,
upper two-thirds of the sopho
more class, or upper three
fourths of the senior class.
A grade of 70 or better in the
Selective Service Qualification
Test is another criteria for defer
ment.
To be eligible to take the Se
lective Service, Test,- - 'a student
must be a selective service reg
istrant who intends to request de
ferment as a s tudent, must be
satisfactorily pursuing a full
time college course—undergrad
uate or graduate—leading to a
degree and must not ,previously
have taken the test.
The third way in which a stu
dent may become eligible for a
deferment is to be a member, in
_good standing, of one of the
three branches of the Reserve Of
ficers Training Corps.
