Coach Joe Bedenk was unde
cided on his starting hurler for
today's game, but named Ace Ev
erson (5-1),, Keith Vesling (4-2)
or John Moore (0-0) as his choices
to get the mound assignment
against the Red Raiders.
A victory today will keep the
Nittanies in contention for an
NCAA bid when that body's corn
mitte meets Monday in Scranton.
The Lions' current record of 12-4
is as good as most District 2
teams in the lost column and bet
ter than most of the other teams
in the important win column.
Bedenk's lineup will be the
same as all season if centerfielder
Sil Cerchie's torn knee ligament
has mended. If not, Ron Weiden
hammer will cover the spot.
In rightfield the slugging Nit
tany Captain Bill Hopper will be
making his last appearance in
three heavy-hitting seasons for
the Lions. Currently hitting .304,
Hopper leads the club in total
bases with four home runs, three
triples, a double and nine singles.
His 16 RBl's are second only to
leftfielder Tonery with 17. Senior
Tonery leads 'the club in most
hits with 21.
Senior shortstop Troisi leads
the club in assists, 48, but also
has made the most errors, 12. An
other senior, Mihalich, follows
with 41 assists. •
Utility infielder and senior Paul
Mowry is batting 1.000 -with one
hit and one official trip to the
plate.

Tennis Lions Meet Colgate
All-Stars Cop
Soccer Title
Although the All-Stars, defend
ing champs, were idle -in the
intramural soccer tourney Thurs
day night, they captured the 1952
crown when Joe's Boys and Dorm
23 were handed setbacks by the
Iron Men and Beaver House.
The All-Stars own an unblem
ished record over a period of two
years. Last year the All-Stars
were highest in the scoring de
partment.
Carrying only one player from
last year's roster, the All-Stars
have had only one goal scored
against them in three games.

Tennis Coach Sherm Fogg, pulling all the strings in order to
surprise mighty Colgate and extend the tennis Lions' four-game
win streak, has installed freshman Bill Ziegler in the number two
singles position against the Raiders today. Match time on the varsity
courts is 1:30 p.m.
Ziegler, Fogg said, has been performing very • well since he
returned to the squad for the
Duquesne match. Working in the
number four sp o t against the
Dukes, Ziegler turned'out a steady
two-set win. He had been side
lined for two weeks' previously
with a bad right wrist.
The unexpected move will
strengthen the middle two singles,
positions, with sophomore Bruz
Ray and Captain Ed Davis each
dropping down a slot. Ray will
go in the number three spot while
Davis will work in number four.
Dick Robinson will be in the
top spot for the Lions today for
the return Raider match. Colgate
